A great value - a large room with private bath not so far removed from central Berlin for under 40 Euros a night. Wifi worked and was provided for free (even though we'd been told there would be a charge). The hotel still uses real keys and not electric key cards - we greatly prefer normal keys.
The hotel's front desk is only open limited hours (in the morning until somewhere between 1 and 6pm - I forget exactly, but certainly closed in the evenings when you check in and when you come back from a day on the town). Also, the hotel requires you to walk up the stairs in order to get to the elevator - fine for my wife and I, but certainly wouldn't work for those with mobility issues.

I am a writer; I booked a room to have a complete break (and be across the street from my gym, the Apollo). It was exactly what I wanted: there was Internet access in the room, which was a haven for concentrating on my book, while just outside were some terrific cafes (esp. Neues üfer, David Bowie's old favourite), easy transportation up to Potsdamerplatz for the Staatsbibliothek, Sony Cinecenter etc., and there are also 2 24- hour Spätkaufs a five-minute walk up Haupstraße if you need a cold drink at 2 am. (When I say a complete break, I mean, obviously, not a break from writing, but a break from all the things that get in the way of writing. Anyone who has a project to finish will understand.) nb - I didn't need it this time, but Mac users may like to know that Deinmac, run by helpful English-speaking Julian Kwan, is just across the street.

The staff was very friendly. The Hotel is in a good location and is really relaxing and the room has a nice view of the city.

I like the bigger double room with the balcony, the bed (not separate) is quite comfortable for the couple. It is lucky that we got a reduced price and also a discount for breakfast after a little bargain. The staff is nice.

I liked the automated reception. Several clicks and you got a key. Cool!
It was a little bit difficult to park a car. Too many cars on the streets.

It was private quiet and convenient. Nothing special. My room was the size of a shoe box, but all in all it was exactly what I needed for this trip. It was convenient and everything I needed was close by the hotel. I am not a fussy traveler, so I am not sure how other people would feel about the hotel. The guests were friendly and the atmosphere was excellent.
I don't have anything negative to say, except to comment that the breakfast should have been included in the price. I didn't especially like paying an extra 9 euros for a small meal. I am not a big eater so 9 euros is expensive for me. I probably ate about 2-3 euros worth of food. But it was essential to have the breakfast available, because I was there when shops were closed for three of the seven days that I was in Berlin.

The room was very spacious, warm and comfortable. It was quiet despite being on a main road. The staff were always pleasant and helpful and some spoke good English. The situation was good, near to the U-bahn, easy to get to Schonefeld airport, nice parks and shops within walking distance. The breakfast was the same every day but there was much choice. Not much hot food, but plenty of fruit, cereal, yogurt, bread, pastries etc. We were quite happy with it. The coffee was nice.
The door to the street, the stairs and the lift had definitely seen better days and were quite shabby and off putting when you first arrived. They belied the pleasant rooms inside the Pension. The pension is part of a block of apparently small flats and I guess that is why the outside area is not well maintained. The entrance doors were heavy and difficult to open. The key is quite heavy to carry around, but you have to take it to get back in. There was no English breakfast tea so I had to provide my own, but teapots and hot water were readily available.

It was clean and well situated for me. The bed was comfortable.
It was not indicated on the website that the bathroom was on the side of the corridor. This was very unpleasant. !!!

I didnt like the pillow and the misunderstanding with the receptionist, but thats not a big deal.

The superb location in the heart of Schoeneberg. Try the restaurant 'Feinbaeckerei' opposite the hotel entrance (with delicious food from the German region of 'Schwaben'). The cafe Neues Ufer (former 'Anderes Ufer') just yards away was once frequented by David Bowie. Although there are plenty of bars and art galleries in the area, the place is surprisingly quiet. The breakfast is worth it!

Another review said it well: don't be dissuaded by the appearance at the front, despite the dingy foyer and small, funky elevator, the rooms are great! Very large and spacious. Comfortable and good pillows and duvets. Free internet access. Free parking on the street outside the hotel. Near Kleistpark subway station which gets you all over the city. Lots of ethnic restaurants nearby.
We had trouble connecting several of our devices and computers to the internet; someone in our party knew networking so was able to make it work but those less knowledgeable may have trouble. They did not provide enough toilet paper for the duration of our stay. Overall, this was a nice place that we'd definitely recommend.

We really liked the location and the room was really good. The hotel looked a bit scruffy on the outside, but it was good inside. The breakfast was good, but not worth the extra 9 Euro´S. It´s better to go too one of restaurant or cafés in the neigbourhood. It´s cheaper an´d, probably, nicer. A big problem for us was to find a parkingplace when we arrived. We thought that we should be able to park outside the hotel, but it was crowded with cars on all the streets around. I drove around for one hour before parking on a spot where it wasn´t supposed to be any cars parked. Don´t go here if you come by car.
